Vittorio Grigòlo

Born in Arezzo,Tuscany and raised in Rome, Vittorio Grigolo was only 4 years old when he discovered his passion for music and was soon to achieve the position of soloist in the Sistine Chapel Choir. Having his debut as Pastorello in Tosca at age 13, he began his vocal training in earnest and at 23 years he became the youngest tenor to debut at La Scala Opera House, Milan. Within a few years he was singing for the major operatic institutions under the batons of Chailly, Maazel, Mehta, Muti, M.W.Chung, Oren and Pappano with a repertoire that flows between Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini, Gounod, Massenet, Offenbach, Bernstein, Sacred Rossini and Mozart. Today, he has become one of the leading tenors of his generation, performing worldwide and is renowned as an outstanding and spectacular young tenor of star quality in both voice and acting ability. The worlds press praises Vittorio for the use of his body language in harmony with his incredible tenor voice, to great effect.

With a gold and platinum selling solo album and a Grammy nominated recording of Bernstein’s West Side Story, Vittorio is already established as a successful recording artist as well as a charismatic and accomplished stage performer. Away from the operatic stage he gives the same energy to his live concert performances. Only recently Vittorio was invited to perform in Chicago to an audience of over 40,000 people as “A Tribute to Luciano Pavarotti”.

Most recent appearances include Faust, Traviata, Don Carlo, Boheme, Lucrezia Borgia, Gianni Schicchi, Lucia Di Lammermoor and Il Corsaro.

The coming year will see Vittorio debut in Hoffman in Zurich as well as in Manon of Massenet in London’s Covent Garden and he will open the season in La Boheme at New York’s prestigious Metropolitan Opera. Another key event this year is a collaboration with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in a special gala concert performance of Rigoletto in Tel Aviv, conducted by Zubin Mehta.
